Band 6 – 2 years’ post qualification experience of working in the community with young people with mental health difficulties and their families. Ability to undertake: Mental Health Assessments, Risk Assessment and implement Risk Management Plans and outcome measures.
Job summary
To provide visible, credible professional clinical leadership, supporting the clinical management of CYP with mental health issues who have presented to the Emergency Department, who may have CYP with challenging behaviour as a result of an underlying condition such as learning difficulties, Asperger’s and ADHD.
To improve patient experience, quality and efficiency of service in DGH by focusing on the significant number of CYP with mental health issues that can complicate their care and discharge.
Ensuring the care delivered to CYP with mental and physical health needs is of a high quality, research based, and is CYP and family/carer focused.
To support the wider paediatric nursing and medical team, by arranging training opportunities to up-skill all professionals on effectively managing CYP’s mental health needs.
To manage CYP presenting with mental health. Emotional health and social care needs, coordinating between the medical, nursing CYPS community teams.
Be a champion for CYP’s mental health and an effective role model for other team members supporting and promoting a learning environment.
Work in close liaison with the Paediatric Matron/staff to allocate safe and appropriate ‘special’ nursing care to CYP as required
